The newest members of the Geelong Cats have received their guernsey numbers for the 2010 season. First round draft pick Daniel Menzel will receive the number 10 guernsey, a jumper made famous by former premiership captain Fred Flanagan. Second pick Mitch Duncan will wear the 22 guernsey, third pick Allen Christensen the number 28 jumper, fourth pick Nathan Vardy the number 36 jumper and the Cats last pick in the national draft, Josh Cowan, will wear the number 41.


The Cats trade week pick up, Marcus Drum, will wear the number 23 jumper after previously wearing 30 at the Dockers.

The Cats first pick in the rookie draft Jack Weston will wear the number 43 jumper which had previously been worn by VFL captains James Byrne and James Podsiadly. Podsiadly will instead wear the number 31 jumper in 2010. The Cats second pick in the rookie draft Ben Johnson, who wore the number 65 jumper in the Cats VFL team last year, will now wear the number 47, whilst final rookie pick Jesse Stringer will suit up in the number 49 jumper.

Recently retired dual premiership captain Tom Harley’s number 2 jumper will not be allocated for the 2010 season whilst Matthew Egan’s number 19 jumper will be held aside in the hope that he can return to the Cats list following his rehabilitation program.
