Geelong continues investigating a foot issue that has sidelined ruck Toby Conway for the past fortnight.

The youngster, who made five AFL appearances in the first half of the season, last played in the VFL loss to Port Melbourne on June 23.

“We’re still investigating the diagnosis and next steps, but he won’t be available this week,” assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.

“We’ll know more what that looks like beyond this weekend soon.”

The timeline for veteran midfielder Cam Guthrie’s return from an Achilles issue also remains uncertain.

The 31-year-old has made just ten AFL appearances since the 2022 grand final.

“We’re continuing to assess his progress and will have a clearer idea on his return to play timeframe within the next week or two,” Johnson said.

The news is better for ruck Rhys Stanley (hip/back), who is available this weekend, while draftee Mitch Edwards and rookie defender Emerson Jeka also missed the VFL loss to Box Hill.

“It’s good news that Rhys is available this week,” Johnson said.

“Mitch Edwards had a bit of a back issue that was unrelated to what was keeping him out earlier in the year, so we were a bit conservative there.

“But he’ll be a test to play this week, along with Emerson Jeka as well.”

Veteran forward Tom Hawkins (foot) is listed as 4-6 weeks away, midfielder Tanner Bruhn (scaphoid) 1-2 weeks, and draftee Oli Wiltshire (pelvis) 2-3 weeks.
