Spring is well and truly in the air as the Geelong region gets set to celebrate local footy and netball, before all eyes turn to the AFL Grand Final.

The GFNL Grand Final will be held on the Friday public holiday for the first time, while the matches return to Kardinia Park having not been held there since 2019, before the pandemic and recent renovations meant the event needed to be moved.

Friday’s forecast is for a mostly sunny day with a top of 16 degrees, as Leopold host South Barwon in the senior football showpiece, kicking off from 2.10pm.

The weather is expected to warm up even more on Saturday, with local pubs and venues set to be buzzing for the AFL Grand Final between Sydney and Brisbane.

Saturday’s set to reach a sunny top of 23 in Geelong, with the same forecast in Melbourne for the big game at the MCG.

The beautiful Spring weather doesn’t quite compare to the same time last year, where the temperature in Geelong reached a top of 31 degrees for the 2023 Grand Final.

It is set to cool down again in Geelong on Sunday and into next year with some more rainy days ahead.
