Advice to avoid thirteenth beach waters due to sharks remains in place.
It comes as community calls continue for a whale carcass to be removed from the beach.
A petition sits just shy of 25 hundred signatures to remove the carcass rather than allowing it to decompose naturally.
“Due to the presence of the deceased whale at 13th Beach, the local beaches have been officially closed, and Surf Life Saving operations are not due to start until November 9,” the petition reads.
“Without the presence of Surf Life Saving the safety of beachgoers cannot be ensured, and this has already led to the suspension of regular activities on the beaches.
“The longer the whale remains in place, the greater the risk to public safety, and the longer these important community services will remain inactive.”
