AFLW: At Selection – Week 6 (2)

October 3, 2024 6:30 pm in by

Uncapped draftee Chantal Mason and former Brisbane Lion Bella Smith are a chance to pull on the Hoops for the first time after being named in Geelong’s squad for Sunday’s must-win meeting with fellow strugglers AFLW Sydney.

The Cats will make at least one change after debutant Bryde O’Rourke suffered a fractured collarbone in the loss to Fremantle on Tuesday night.

“It was an unfortunate injury for Bryde,” Cats assistant football boss Brett Johnson said.

“She has remained upbeat, and we now work through what the coming weeks look like for her in terms of a return-to-play plan.

“It’s an undisplaced fracture, which does not require surgery, and at this stage, we’re hopeful Bryde will be available for selection in a few weeks’ time.”

Geelong’s clash with the Swans doubles as AFLW game 50 for undersized ruck Kate Darby.

The Cats will finalise their team on Friday afternoon.
