Airey’s Inlet has taken out silver in Australia’s Tiny Tourism Town Awards.
The Australian Tourism Industry Council recognition is for towns with a population under 1,500, who’ve previously secured Gold in their respective state or territory.
Western Australia’s Dwellingup took out Gold in the national award, with the coastal NSW town of Huskisson securing Bronze.
Vice-President of the Aireys Inlet Tourism and Traders association Melissa McDonald said the award belonged to the whole community.
“From our local businesses and residents to the visitors who have made cherished memories here,” she said.
“This recognition is a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of our community to create a unique and unforgettable experience for all who visit our beautiful coastal town.”
Congratulating the community on its achievement Surf Coast Shire Mayor Liz Pattison described the town as a treasured spot along the Great Ocean Road.
“It’s a wonderful town…beautiful coastal walks, fantastic food, central accommodation and stunning views, particularly from the Split Point Lighthouse,” she said.
