Algal bloom prompts water warning in Torquay

Swimmers are being advised to avoid contact with the ocean off the Torquay front beach (SUPPLIED).

Authorities are warning people not to swim at one of the Surf Coast’s most popular beaches due to the detection of an algal bloom.

A blue green algae advice alert was issued overnight for water quality at Cosy Corner on the Torquay front beach.

The warning is described as precautionary, as testing is underway on water samples from the area.

A notification update on water quality and swimmers safety will provided once further test results come in.
