A plane has crashed during an air display at the Avalon Airshow.
The pilot of the plane is alive and in a serious condition, suffering serious upper and lower body injuries with an air ambulance called in.
The plane hit the tarmac around 5.15pm on Friday March 28, after losing control during the demonstration.
The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft.
The crash happened a significant distance away from spectators and there have been no other reports of injury yet.
The exact circumstances of the incident are yet to be determined.
The situation is ongoing, with Victoria Police set to hand the investigation over to the appropriate agency in due course.
The airshow was suspended for the remainder of the day.
