Charges over carjacking

Two men and a woman have been charged following two carjackings in Geelong.

The incidents unfolded in the southeast of the region, starting with an incident on High Street in Belmont.

“The trio allegedly produced a knife before demanding the 24-year-old male inside the car to drive,” police said in a statement.

“They were driven to Woods Road, St Albans Park where they approached a second car about 4.30pm.

“Investigators were told the group allegedly assaulted a woman inside the second car before fleeing the scene in her white Suzuki Vitara wagon.”

The 18-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a slash wound, while the man did not sustain injuries.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, charged with aggravated carjacking, false imprisonment and assault causing injury, while a 20-year-old man was also arrested and charged with the same offences, as well as drug possession.

A 17-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday, also charged with aggravated carjacking, false imprisonment, assault causing injury and drug poessesion.

The stolen Suzuki remains missing.
