Charges over Point Lonsdale fire

A man has been charged in relation to a grass fire in Point Lonsdale.

Emergency services were called to a grass fire on Glaneuse Road, with two acres burned before being brought under control.

“A 41-year-old man was located on Main Street Point Lonsdale and arrested,” a statement from police media said.

“It is alleged the offender stole a pushbike during an aggravated burglary on Albert Street in Point Lonsdale prior to the alleged fires.

“A man of no fixed address has been charged with criminal damage by fire, criminal damage by fire – endanger life, theft, aggravated burglary and other related offences.”

The man will face court today.
