“These are the areas that have been impacted mostly by the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games,” Mr McCracken said.

“They’re also the sites of the $2 billion regional package the government has announced.”

Geelong council CEO Ali Wastie was not with the city during the lead up to – and cancellation of – the 2026 games, but will be first up at the hearing, followed after by Commit for Geelong CEO Michael Johnston.

Geelong Chamber CEO Jeremy Crawford is on the speaking list, before Surf Coast Council Mayor Liz Pattison and Shire CEO Robyn Seymour appear.

Sporting bodies are also due to make an appearance, given they stood to gain from promised infrastructure that’s now under cloud.
