Corio teen caught after attempted getaway

A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly speeding off on police officers through a roadside breath test site in Corio on Sunday evening.

Police say an officer told the 17-year-old to park on the side of Cox Road around 5.30pm, when he allegedly accelerated through the site, narrowly missing police officers.

It’s alleged he drove at over 90km/h in the 60-zone, and was seen weaving through traffic on his way home.

By the time the boy arrived at his house, police were already waiting for him and took him into custody.

He has been charged with conduct endangering life, conduct endangering persons, drive in a manner dangerous, unlicensed driving and exceeding the speed limit.

He was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
