A Dereel farm dam has been drained as part of the search for missing woman Lorrin Whitehead.
Lorrin was last seen in Bannockburn on the afternoon of February 8, 2013, buying some items from a local supermarket.
A witness reported seeing the then 42-year-old getting into the driver’s seat of a red 4WD.
Detectives say the dam was drained and an excavator brought in to search for any sign of Lorrin, based on intelligence the mother’s remains may potentially be found in the area.
They have been speaking to several people who knew Lorrin over the last year, and are looking into all possibilities in relation to her disappearance.
Detective Sergeant Steve Murphy said next week would mark 12 years since Lorrin went missing.
“We are thankful for each new piece of information provided to us by the public and ensure to dutifully investigate every tip,” he said.
“Lorrin’s family and friends have spent more than a decade not knowing what happened to Lorrin and we want to provide them with some answers.
“We know there is someone out there who has information that can assist us in working out exactly what happened to Lorrin and provide closure to her loved ones and the tight-knit community of Bannockburn.”
A digital image of what Lorrin may look like now has been re-released as part of the investigation.
Anyone with any information on her disappearance is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
