Winter may still be going, but we are seeing some snakes making an appearance in the region.
Snakes will typically start to be seen more when the temperature hits 20 degrees regularly.
Snake catcher Darren Kelleir says there are a couple of sightings every week.
“There have been a few sightings,” he said.
“We’ re talking place like garden beds and sheds, the places you will regularly see them.
“The best thing you can do in that situation is to leave them alone. Move away safely and call a snake catcher and we will be able to assist.”
While we are seeing snakes early on, that doesn’t necessarily mean we will see more this spring and summer.
“I’m hoping for a reasonable season,” he said.
“But you never really know, you can only hope.
“And the idea of seeing them earlier in winter isn’t that uncommon. We all just need to be prepared.”
