Federal police have raided a Geelong business as part of an investigation into alleged tax fraud.
Officers were seen at Scale Facilitation’s office in North Geelong late last week.
An AFP spokesperson has confirmed the Serious Financial Crime Taskforce executed several warrants in the Greater Geelong area.
The taskforce is made up of several Commonwealth Departments, but the AFP says the activity is not related to national security.
Scale Facilitation says it has and will continue to fully cooperate with the the Tax Office and now the AFP.
“We deny any wrong doing and will continue working with our legal and other advisors to defend any matters arising from these discussions,” a spokesperson for the company said.
Scale Facilitation is the parent company of Recharge Industries, which is planning to build a large-scale battery factory at Avalon.
There had been reports reports staff and vendors had been unpaid for several weeks, but Recharge Industries said that was due to delays because of a global money transfer issue.
