Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is downplaying claims that rescue vehicles at Geelong’s main fire station are worn out and need to be replaced.
The firefighter’s union has taken to social media to say the trucks at Geelong City are effectively out of commission as they await servicing and spare parts.
The UFU claims the vehicles are in disrepair and out of date.

One of the trucks is 16 years old and has been taken out of service to have rust removed, with no indication about when it may be back in action.
FRV said vehicles that are taken out of service for repairs are replaced by others while the work is being completed.
