It may be a wet Sunday morning, but with school holidays now underway, we are being told it’s the perfect time to hit the waterways and go fishing.

Saint Augustine’s Water Hole one of many areas of the state to be restocked, with 750 rainbow trout being placed for the season.

Victorian Fisheries Authority CEO Travis Dowling said it was a perfect time to hit the waterways.

“These catchable size rainbow trout for kids are part of our record-breaking stocking program, which released more than 11.5 million fish, more than all other states and territories combined,” he said.

Minister for Outdoor Recreation Steve Dimopoulos added that it was a great opportunity for keen anglers.

“We know parents are always looking for fun, low cost activities that get kids outside and into nature – so we’re providing great fishing opportunities for families right across the state,” he said.

“Lakes across the state are stocked and students have their rods ready to go – this is a great way to spend time with family and friends these school holidays.”
