Foggy start for locals

Fog rolls in on Tuesday morning [Geelong Broadcasters]

Fog is blanketing parts of Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.

The mist rolled in on Sunday, with locals reporting fog over the last few days.

Jonathan How from the Bureau of Meteorology said it was very unusual for late November.

“We typically see this sometimes happen in the winter time,” he said.

“There are quite a few complex things going around Melbourne, and in a unique geography, even amplifying how bad visibility is and how low the cloud’s been.”

The fog has also disrupted flights in and out of Melbourne Airport.

A road weather alert has also been issued, with drivers urged to reduce their speed on the roads and turn on their headlights.

Geelong is in for a possible shower today with a top of 24.
