Geelong could bear the brunt of Ford’s plan to cut hundreds of jobs.
The car giant is looking to axe around 400 Australian jobs in coming months.
It says it is working withemployees and the union on its ‘separation program’.
Ford says the changes are part of its move to improve efficiency and operations to meed future needs.
The cut would represent more than 20 per cent of Ford’s Australian workforce.
It is expected most of the jobs will affect Geelong workers in design and development roles.
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union says the losses are due in September and will support those impacted.
Ford announced earlier this year it was planning to cut 250 positions from Geelong and Broadmeadows.
