Local government elections are being held later this year and candidates are starting to think about their campaign.
Former Victorian MP Andrew Elsbury has announced he will be running for Wyndham Council, saying it is important to speak up for the community.
The former Liberal Party member confirmed he would be running as an independent.
“Now I’m no longer a member of a political party, I’m no longer involved with the political organisation, I can use all of my skills and make any statements I think are necessary to be able to get the outcomes our community deserves,” he said.
“The City of Wyndham is a great place for people to live, but I think we can do better.
“I think people expect better of their council than what we’re getting.”
Former Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj confirmed to Geelong Broadcasters last week he was considering running for the City of Greater Geelong elections in October.
