A surfing Victoria program which includes Torquay is set the receive a boost from state government funding.
The Surfers Rescue 24/7 Boardriders Club Program provides first aid and CPR training as well as for board rescue.
The program also includes Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula.
The money comes as part of the state Sporting Club Grants Program, which will see $1.2 million shared between 740 clubs.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said it was essential to fund groups across the state to keep the community engaged.
“This is a major boost for clubs across the state – we’re making sure clubs have the skills and equipment they need to thrive, and get more people involved,” she said.
“We want our local sporting clubs to be backing the next generation of local champions – and these grants provide them the chance to do just that.”
