Geelong has been rocked by wild weather as storms rolled through town last night.
Flash flooding, winds of more than 80ks and hail have been reported all across the region, with trees and fences down.
It came after the town sweated through a day of near 40 degree heat.
Social media was inundated with posts across the evening of heavy rain fall and the aftermath of winds.
Lincoln Trainer from the Weather Bureau says it came quickly.
“During summer you do get the extreme temperatures that can trigger these thunderstorms, so that can happen,” he said.
“But we’ve definitely seen some very heavy falls over night.
“It was especially the case in Lara, who copped about 30mm in 30 minutes.”
The weather continued well into the night, with winds of up to 80km reported at 3am.
A thunderstorm warning for the region has now been cancelled for the region.
