Phone lines at two of Geelong’s key government organisations are down due to the nation-wide Optus outage.
Up to ten million customers are waking up to SOS only readings on their mobile handsets after communications went down around 4am.
“We’re aware of an issue impacting Optus mobile and nbn services and are working to restore services as quickly as possible,” the telco posted on social media.
“We understand connectivity is important and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Barwon Health says the outage is affecting its mobile and landlines and is asking people to be patient with its staff as Optus works to resolve the issue.
Geelong Council used its social media channels to confirm calls to “our phone lines are currently unavailable due to an Optus network fault.”
“We’ll update this post when service is restored, but for now, please contact us via the online forms at www.geelongaustralia.com.au/contact”
