Coaches have replaced trains between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong stations during peak hour on Tuesday afternoon.
The Department of Transport has said the disruption is due to a signal fault, and it’s unclear when train services will resume.
“Passengers should check station platform displays and listen for announcements, and to allow additional time for their travel,” a spokesperson said.

“We ask motorists to be vigilant for extra coaches and pedestrians around stations along the Geelong Line.
“Services will resume as soon as it is safe to do so.”
