Over 1200 Golden Retrievers and their owners have gathered at the Geelong showgrounds.
The annual Gold Rush event yesterday is a fundraiser for Golden Retriever Rescue, last year’s event raising $36,000 for the service.
Organiser Carly Fitzgerald told 7News the idea for the event was born overseas.
“Scotland, the birth of Golden Retrievers, had a 150th anniversary. So we thought, a bit of fun, we could do it. Four years later and this is how big we are,” she said.
Organisers say 1252 Golden Retrievers were at the showgrounds yesterday, around 100 more than at the 2022 event.
“We just go bigger and better each year” Mr Fitzgerald said.
