A record ten-thousand competitors will head to the Great Ocean Road Running Festival this weekend.
The event will include 10 different running events, as well as a number of other events around the region to celebrate the festival.
Event Director Brad King says the record numbers come off the back of a bit of a running boom
“We’re really grateful to see people take part in our event,” he said.
“But we’re also grateful to see the boom in the industry. It’s probably the most simple form of exercise out there.
“But it also brings a really good social environment for those who are taking part.”
He added the record crowd was a great outcome, and praised the opportunity to run the event in the area.
“It’s one of the most beautiful regions in the world,” he said.
“And we are very lucky to have access to this area, so we are really excited to be able to put this event on again.”
