The Liberals will put forward $40-thousand to install CCTV cameras on Pakington Street in Geelong West, if the Coalition wins the upcoming Federal Election.

Liberal candidate for Corio Darren Buller announced the funding will come from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund, which will provide nine cameras.

The commitment comes following a community safety forum and a reported spike in crime and anti-social behaviour on Pako.

“This funding is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community,” Mr Buller said.

“Following a community safety forum, the Liberals are responding quickly with practical measures to ensure that working and shopping in Pako is safer for everyone.”

Police recently conducted a small operation along the busy street, resulting in seven arrests – all for theft.
