The red and yellow flags are back up at all Surf Life Saving Clubs across the Surf Coast and Bellarine.
The Victorian patrol season started last weekend.
Liam Krige from Life Saving Victoria said they were expecting local beaches to be busy over the season.
“It certainly means that on any weekend, our lifesavers could be called into action doing a number of different things,” he said.
“We tend to try and focus on prevention more than anything and so having a conversation with people that are coming down to those beaches.”
Mr Krige also assured beachgoers the organisation was not experiencing low volunteer numbers and staff shortages like other sectors.
“We’re really lucky in the fact that we’ve got over 6,500 volunteers that are dedicted to patrol our coastline.
“They’re all very well prepared, they’ve been conducting training over the winter months.”
