A man’s been arrested in Melbourne’s west after he was allegedly seen driving erratically through several Geelong suburbs on Friday afternoon.
Officers were initially called to the Princes Highway in Winchelsea to reports a red Ford Falcon was seen at high speed around 12.20pm.
Police say the Falcon continued to speed through Geelong also running red lights, while side swiping another vehicle along the Western Ring Road in Lovely Banks.
It’s alleged the vehicle was travelling at speeds of between 150km/h and 170km/h.
Pursuing officers then called off the chase as units on the ground monitored, and located the Ford in Little River travelling towards Werribee.
Police successfully deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Windall Road and Ison Road in Werribee.
The Ford is alleged to have continued to drive erratically, colliding with a school fence in Walls Road before running a red light at Bulban Road.
The vehicle came to a stop on Wedge Street North in Werribee about 1:30pm.
A 27-year-old Werribee man alleged to be behind the wheel was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital, he is currently under police guard.
No one was injured during the incident and all vehicles sustained moderate damage.
