The state government’s announced it’ll be unlocking surplus land in Herne Hill for dozens of new homes.
The land on McCurdy Road will see up to 60 two and three bedroom houses built.
It’s one of six spaces in Victoria the government says it’ll unlock for new homes.
Member for Geelong, Christine Couzens says its a big win for the region.
“Utilising unused government sites for housing will enable more people to have a home in Geelong,” she said.
“This initiative helps to address Geelong’s housing needs.”
“The number of homes delivered on each site is subject to relevant approvals,” a statement said.
“If approved, construction can commence in 2027.
“More sites are expected to be added to the second tranche of the Small Sites program prior to the EOI release in April 2025.”
