A draft plan for a new pier at St Leonards is due for release over the 2023-24 summer.
The state government says the structure is nearing its end of life and is only open with safety restrictions in place.
A recent state budget allocation of $46 million for critical works and piers and jetties across the state will be used to fund early works for the Bellarine pier, with community consultation to open on draft precinct plan in coming months.
Describing the pier as a “jewel” of the peninsula Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said locals will be asked for their thoughts on the new structure.
“The pier is an iconic and much-loved part of the St Leonards community,” she said.
“I am proud to see investment come to the town, with locals having input into the new pier.”
