New boards ordered for the Globe

The Globe is approaching 100-years-old, having been built in 1926-27 (SURF COAST COUNCIL).

Work’s due to start in March for new floors at Winchelsea’s Globe Theatre.

The entire floor’s being replaced and in line with heritage requirements Australian chestnut boards are being used.

Difficulty in sourcing the specialised timber has pushed back the work start date on the refurbishment till March, a project that became necessary after the discovery of termite’s in the historic building.

Work including sanding, installation of skirting boards, painting and laying of the new floor boards is due for completion early April.
