Geelong is in for a mild Christmas Day with just a slight chance of showers, although there is a risk of a damp Christmas Eve for the city’s traditional Carols By Candlelight in Johnstone Park.
The Bureau of Meteorology has released its Christmas forecast, which predicts mild days leading up to the most magical night of the year.
BoM Meteorologist Morgan Pumpa told Geelong Broadcasters December 25 will be partly cloudy with a comfortable top of 21.
“We have the slight chance of showers, with a bit of southerly winds that may build up, a little bit of cloud overhead, so whether or not we continue to see that chance of showers as we head towards Christmas Day, with a top of 24 for Geelong,” she said.
“We’re going to see around the average temperature on Christmas Day, and the good news is we won’t be having too much in the way of siginificant showers or winds … moving over either.”
Ms Pumpa said there would be slightly warmer temperatures later this week.
“It’s expected to be 23 on Friday and 24 on Saturday so at the moment for people’s work and festivities we’ve got some nice conditions towards the end of the week.
“So perfect conditions whether people are outside or inside, hopefully not too hot and not too cold for gatherings and plenty of good weather for people to be feasting out on some delicious food
