Police investigate suspicious North Geelong blaze

Police are treating an early morning unit fire in North Geelong as suspicious.

Emergency services responded to reports of a large amount of smoke at a Coxon Parade property around 4.15am on Saturday.

Two FRV crews arrived about 15 minutes later, finding the unit fully alight, bringing it under control within minutes of arrival.

A 47-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were evacuated, both uninjured while the property sustained significant damage.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are looking into the blaze, with the exact circumstances yet to be determined.

An arson chemist will attend the scene later in the day.
