Geelong police have ‘flooded’ Pakington Street in response to concerns from locals, leading to seven arrests on Wednesday.
Local officers said they are looking to provide a higher visibility in Geelong West following a Neighbourhood Policing forum held at the Geelong West Town Hall last week.
Seven people were arrested during the targeted operation on Wednesday, all arrested for theft.
Acting Sergeant Daniel Watson led officers throughout Geelong West, focusing on Pako and public areas.
“We want our retailers and the public to know that we take public safety seriously and that includes our safer suburbs approach,” Acting Sergeant Watson said.
Police say locals should expect to see more similar operations in several suburbs on a regular basis.
