Locals who experienced institutional abuse will head to Melbourne today to hear an apology from the Premier.
Jacinta Allan will make the formal apology for those who suffered historical abuse and neglect in state care prior to 1990.
It is believed more than 90,000 children were in case before that time, with many suffering various forms of abuse.
The apology will be at Parliament House from 11am.
Buses are taking locals to Melbourne for the historic day.
However, those unable to make the trip up the freeway can watch a livestream of events at the Geelong Events Centre.
