Geelong great Joel Selwood has taken to social media to pay tribute to his brother Troy, who tragically passed away last week aged 40.

The Cats premiership skipper posted a tribute on Instagram with several images of the pair along with the caption “rest easy brother, love you.”

It comes following an announcement from mother Maree last Friday night, that the former Brisbane Lions star will be farewelled at a service at Kardinia Park later this week.

“Sadly we will be saying goodbye to our beautiful Troy on Friday 14th February 2025 at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong, at 10am,” Maree wrote on social media.

The funeral service will be live streamed by Tuckers.

The news of Troy’s passing shocked the footy world last week, alongside the devastating deaths of fellow ex-AFL player Adam Hunter and Essendon VFL coach Dale Tapping.
