Several teens charged following local arrests

Four youths, including two teenagers from Geelong, have now been charged after a police chase across Melbourne’s west ended in Corio on Monday morning.

The quartet were travelling in two allegedly stolen cars, and were followed by the police helicopter from Werribee around 10am.

A Mercedes SUV was reportedly stolen from a carpark of a gym in Bradfield Road, and was later spotted travelling in convoy with an allegedly stolen Nissan Patrol.

Officers followed the two vehicles through Corio, Norlane, Little River and Lara, successfully deploying stop sticks as both vehicles travelled along Sandy Creek Road, near the You Yangs Regional Park.

The Nissan was dumped and two occupants jumped into the Mercedes which continued into Corio.

The car came to a stop on Cabernet Road where all four were arrested at the scene.

A 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy from the Geelong area were both charged and have been remanded in custody.

A 23-year-old Hampton Park man has been charged and bailed, as has a15-year-old girl from the Melton area.

The arrests came shortly after another young boy was arrested in Armstrong Creek on Monday morning.

The 15-year-old was taken into custody after a search of an Atherton Street home allegedly found weapons and drugs.

The boy from the Geelong region has since been charged with four counts of drug trafficking, drug possession, weapons offences, sale of controlled substance (vapes) and deal property suspected proceeds of crime.

He has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
