The chair and board member of a local charity will speend a week living on the streets, raising awareness of homelessness in Geelong.
Amy and Maggie from The Outpost will experience the struggles of finding food relief, shelter and other services needed to survive the “Week on the Streets”.
They will talk with locals, ask for help with finding resources, and explore the region’s support services.
The Outpost says the initiative is aimed at putting the spotlight on the reality homelessness to the wider community.
The group says homelessness does not discriminate and there are stories behind the faces on the streets.
It is also hoping to share insights with community services providers to make a targeted and informed difference.
The Outpost provides food seven days a week, 365 days a year.
