The Corio Fire Brigade is looking for a couple of extra helping hands, currently operating without a secretary or treasurer.
The support team plays an equally important role to that of firefighters, all working to help keep the community safe.
Corio Fire Brigade 2nd Lieutenant Brad Coulter said non-operational members play a crucial role in the CFA.
“Everyone brings new concepts, ideas and vitality to the brigade. We’ve had a couple of recent recruit intakes for operational members, but we really need those support roles who might want to help out the brigade but in a non-firefighting capacity,” he said.
“Support roles are crucial to the daily operations of the brigade. Having people who are able to support with fundraising, administrative requirements, training support, financial responsibilities and ensuring we’re receiving the information we need to get on the truck and respond to calls as efficiently as we can.”
Beyond helping the community, he said being involved in the brigade provides connection.
“We’re there to fight fires, and of course that’s our main priority, but we’re so much more than that. We’re friends, we’re a social brigade, and we’re welcoming – so if you think you’re able to help us out in the roles of secretary or treasurer, please get in touch with us for more information,” he said.
