It seems the regions – including greater Geelong and the surrounding area – is no longer the place to be.
New data from Pexa has shown that the Covid tree change is essentially over, as Melbourne saw a major growth in people moving to the area in the last financial year.
Tarneit was the place to be – with almost six-thousand properties having new occupants.
“Areas like Tarneit really stand out with a high number of settlements, reflecting their popularity among homebuyers,” PEXA group’s chief economist Julie Toth said.
“Tarneit had the highest settlement number of any suburb nationally in FY24, at 5,906 sales.
“Other high-ranking city suburbs, such as Marsden Park, Craigieburn, and Ripley, continue to attract significant interest due to their large-scale greenfield housing developments. “
