Our region is preparing for the mercury to head into the 40s today.
It’s going to be a long day not only for locals as they swelter through the heat – but also for our CFA as we face extreme fire risk.
A total fire ban is in place for the Central district – including Geelong and the Surf Coast.
CFA deputy chief Brett Boatman says extra resources are ready.
“We have extra crews, trucks and aircraft ready for the entire state,” he said.
“So we need people to be ready for the day. If you’re travelling, we need you travelling early to avoid the worst of the fire conditions.
“Make sure you are prepared for the day.”
The week will get easier, with temperatures back into the mid to low 20s from tomorrow.
