Tributes flow for Troy

Tributes have continued to flow for Troy Selwood.

The much loved footballer and Geelong Grammar performance mentor passing away yesterday at just 40.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon paid tribute to the former Brisbane Lion and Geelong VFL player.

“Troy always bought a sense of positivity, humour and care to the recruiting and talent development process and will be sadly missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to work with him,” he said.

“We send our deepest sympathies to Joel, Adam, Scott, Bryce, Maree and the entire Selwood family, the staff and students at Geelong Grammar and all those who knew him in the football family at this time.”

Head of K rock Football Tom King also paid tribute to his friend and colleague.

“I loved working with him. I’m so grateful he came back to us last year,” he said on X.

Former Geelong great Cameron Ling said it was an incredibly tough day.

“It’s really tough to talk about,” he said on Geelong Broadcasters’ Tom, Lingy and Loggy.

“He was such a terrific guy, for all those who know him, who played with or worked with or crossed paths with him, they only have nice things to say about him.”

Geelong Broadcasters social media was also inundated with tributes from members of the public.

Catherine (via X): I had some great conversations with Troy about footy in my time at the Grammar. He did fantastic work there. My deepest sympathy to the Selwood family, the GGS community, and all who knew him. A huge loss.

Andrew Daley (via X): First thing I thought of. Pretty sure it was the saints game at Marvel he was there for in August. Remember it was like 12 years to the date mum got her photo with him for her birthday.. such a ripping bloke with a really good view on the game
