The Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre is set to become the Wathaurong Booln Booln Cultural Centre.
Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative announcing yesterday it had acquired the Torquay road facility.
The move was announced by the co-operative yesterday.
“This exciting announcement is one that should be celebrated as this important cultural space is now in the rightful hands of the Aboriginal Community,” a statement read.
“Wathaurong will be staging a phased re-opening of Booln Booln for our region, to make sure the facilities are ready for re-opening.
“There will be activity on site over the coming months with some meetings and community gatherings being held in the space, however most of the facility will remain closed to the general public until early 2025.
“Throughout this time, the animals on site are continuing to be cared for and will remain a popular feature of the site when ready for public re-opening.”
