Wintry conditions arrive in Geelong

rain band BoMA cold and wet start to the week in Geelong, with the city forecast to reach just 11 degrees today.

The city has officially recorded just over 7mm since midnight, while Avalon has had almost 8mm of rainfall.

The Surf Coast has recorded 6.4mm.

Angus Hines from the Bureau of Meteorology said the cold conditions would continue this week.

“The coldest day will probably be today, temperatures around 10 or 11 degrees through much of the state,” he said.

“It could even be lower than that for some of those elevated areas.”

Snow will also be falling in the alps in welcome news for ski resorts.
