Woman airlifted to hospital after Anakie crash

A woman has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Anakie.

A woman in her 80s was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with upper and lower body injuries.

Emergency services were called to Geelong-Ballan Road around 2.30pm on Sunday.

It’s understood the car left the road and crashed into a tree near the intersection of Staughton Vale Road.

Corio SES shared on social media that a joint rescue operation was conducted by Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, FRV, and CFA crews.

They’ve issued a reminder on the importance of driving to the conditions, with this the second incident they were called to on the road over the weekend.
