A woman in in hospital with serious injuries and a man is in police custody after a violent home invasion at Grovedale early on New years’ Day.
Members of the public called police at around 3.15am on Monday after finding the badly injured woman lying on the nature strip outside of a home on Torquay Road.
She was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Police believe a man had earlier entered the woman’s home and assaulted her, before she managed to escape.
It’s alleged he stole the woman’s car before crashing it into a garage at Hamlyn Heights.
A 20-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
