Two families involved in Sunday night’s tragic crash in Daylesford have been identified as Wyndham locals.
Five people were killed when a car ploughed through a beer garden at a pub on Vincent Street just after 6pm.
A 38-year-old man and his 11-year-old son were both killed, while the man’s wife, a 36-year-old woman, and a second son, aged six, were injured.
The woman was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the injured boy was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital, the family are from Tarneit.
Meanwhile, a Point Cook couple, a 30-year-old and a 44-year-old woman, were killed along the woman’s nine-year-old daughter.
The driver, a 66-year-old Mount Macedon man, is now expected to remain in hospital overnight and it’s anticipated he will be interviewed on Tuesday.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
