The Adam Donohue era at Inverleigh is over, with the veteran star to join South Colac in 2025.
Donohue, appointed coach at Morton Power Oval ahead of the 2019 season, will link up with former teammate Brad Surkitt at the Colac and District club.
The son of former Geelong spearhead Larry, Donohue spent two years on the Cats’ list before returning to home club Grovedale.
He was a key as the Tigers made their one and only GFNL grand final appearance in 2013.
The 34-year-old joined Geelong Amateur in 2018 before accepting the coaching role at Inverleigh.
“Buck, your dedication, passion, and leadership have truly made a difference in our community,” a heartfelt post on Inverleigh’s Facebook page said.
“From your on-field performance to your commitment off the field, you have embodied the spirit of our club.
“Your hard work has inspired not just the players but everyone involved with the club.
“Thank you for the countless memories, your unwavering support, and the friendships forged along the way.
“You will be greatly missed, but we know you’ll carry a piece of Inverleigh with you wherever you go.”
Donohue was in charge of the Hawks until mid-2023, when he stepped down as coach to be replaced by Chris Moore.
Freed of the responsibility of coaching, Donohue was instrumental in helping Inverleigh to its first premiership since 1992.
He kicked 49 goals this year and was named in the GDFNL Team of the Year for a fifth consecutive season.
Donohue is the second premiership player to depart Inverleigh in 24 hours after Paddy Bourke joined GFNL club South Barwon.
