CORIO has become the latest club to confirm its coaching appointment for 2021, with the Devils locking away father-son duo Darren and Joel Bennett.

For the elder Bennett, it will be his second season in charge, while it will be Joel’s first.

“The knowledge and experience they both will bring to our playing group are exceptional,” president Greg Ince said in a statement on Facebook.

“The numbers they had at pre-season this year is something we haven’t seen at the club in over ten years.

‘The dedication of this year’s playing group would’ve been one to be reckoned with, and we were so excited for this year’s season.

“Unfortunately due to COVID-19, this wasn’t possible, so we hope that everyone sticks together in 2021 to show other clubs we are back.

“Darren and Joel are extremely passionate about their home club, and they are very excited to continue to lead the players in the right direction to rebuild and be a force to be reckoned with.”

GDFL: MAGPIES RE-SIGN GEORGE

A club great and GDFL life member, Darren Bennett returned to VIVA Energy Oval in late 2018 after time as an assistant coach with GFL club Geelong West.

Joel re-joined the Devils after stints with VFL club Werribee, the Geelong Falcons and the Giants at the end of last year to be one the youngest coaching appointments the region has seen at senior level.
